Jessica’s Story
Jessica Parrott is a dedicated volunteer to the Alzheimer’s Association - Nebraska Chapter. Her connection to the Alzheimer’s Association began during her time as a caregiver for her mother, who was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia at just 62 years old and passed away six years later.
"I was my mother’s caregiver. During that time, I attended my first Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group. There was something very special about sitting in a room with like-minded people who understood my situation without an explanation. I will never forget my support group leaders."
Drawing from her own experience, she decided to take action:
"I knew from my own personal experiences how meaningful those meetings were, so I decided to volunteer to co-facilitate one. I take pride in creating a safe, all-inclusive, confidential space for caregivers to come and share their experiences, their questions, their struggles, or even just to vent, because sometimes that is needed too."
